Petal Power Italy Flower Cycle

Hello my Greyfriar friends, from your beadle “Drew”, once again I am taking to the road with my bicycle, my intention is to reach Assisi by Saturday 27th August to meet some of my friends at North Leith, as well as those new people l met last year, I have been told there are even more new people making the group much larger than the one last year, so I look forward to some lively prayer meetings.

As in 2009 when I cycled the path way along the German Rhine River I will be cycling for the charity Vocal they have a web site, for those wishing to give donations in that manner, their web site is, http://www.justgiving.com/ or if anyone would like me to take their donation they could just put it in an envelope heading it to “Italy Flower cycle Vocal 18 Johnston Terrace,” (as they are just next to St Columbus by the Castle,) I will be happy to take it to them and they will write to yourself, thanking you very much.

My intention is to cycle 240 miles through Italy from Alessandria to Assisi where I will meet my friends. My Itinerary is as follows, I take the Train from Edinburgh on Friday the 12th August to Stokesley in (Middlesburough) northern England for one night then on the Bike Bus,(it's proper name is, The European Bus Express, “The Best Way into Europe for you and your Bike”). Saturday 13th August I take this Bike Bus to Lyon France, take a Train through the Alps to Turin Italy, on to Alessandra then on Tuesday 16th August my cycling starts with stops at Casteggo, Rottofreno, Parma, Modena, Bologna, Freza, Rimmini, Ancona, and Fabriano, arriving in Assisi Friday 26th August with my new and old friends till Monday 5th September. Then we all go on to Lugano in Switzerland. I can only stay here for three Days then I must make my way over Switzerland to get the Bike Bus in Lyon for my home-ward journey to Stokesley on Sunday 11th September. I may stay a day or so to catch my breath, before making my way home to start my duties at Greyfriars and to see you wonderful people once more.
